Elusive Brewing believes that beer is for everyone and we endeavour to provide a safe and inclusive space for all who visit our taproom. We appreciate that everybody’s needs are different and so below is some information about the facilities that we have. Hopefully this will help you to understand whether we will be able to cater for you or not.

Getting to the taproom - If you are arriving by car or taxi, the taproom is sited in a car park and so you will be able to park within 50m of the front door of the venue. Should you be arriving by bus, the number 3 “Leopard” service is operated by Reading Buses and all Reading Buses journeys are normally operated by low-floor, wheelchair-accessible buses. The nearest accessible stop to the taproom is 0.5 miles away on Nine Mile Ride. (Some visitors use the bus stop on Harvest Drive, 0.2 miles away, but this involves an off road path that may not be suitable for all).

Entrance - The main entrance doorway has a width of 75cm and a lip at the bottom of approximately 5cm. However, there is also a shutter to provide access if this is more convenient and a member of staff will be happy to raise the shutter on the occasions that weather causes us to keep it closed.

Toilet - Currently our toilet block is divided into a toilet and a separate handwashing area. Both doorways are 65cm wide and the toilet cubicle is 90cm x 160cm. There are grab rails in the toilet and we have installed an accessible tap handle in the handwashing area.

Service - We are proud to be a part of the Everyone Welcome Initiative and all of our staff will do their utmost to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Whether this is offering table service, addressing negative behaviour or catering to any other reasonable request, please feel free to ask. We are also aware of the hidden disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme. Our taplist of the beers that we are serving is available online or through scanning the QR code on display at the bar, so that you can independently make informed choices.

Indoor space - All of the interior space of the taproom is a single, even floor with no trip hazards. The bar has a height of 110cm and tables for seating have a height of 75cm. Chairs have a seat height of 45cm and bar stools a height of 70cm. Tables are not fixed in position and can be easily moved to accommodate different groups or requirements.

Outdoor space - During suitable weather, tables (65cm high) and benches (45cm seat height) are arranged outside of the taproom, underneath gazebos providing shade.

Atmosphere/ambiance - There is usually a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in the taproom with low level background music and quiet conversation. However, noise levels can increase dramatically when it gets busy or large groups arrive. In addition, the three games consoles display flashing colours on monitors (with no sound) and the walls are brightly painted.

We hope that you are able to find the information you need on this page, but please feel free to contact us (beer@elusivebrewing.com) if you have any specific questions or would like any additional details on the facilities we can offer. We would also welcome your contact if there is anything that will prevent or hinder a possible visit. Whilst we cannot guarantee to be able to resolve every issue, your input may help us to plan and prioritise future developments.
